The Senses are Still Working

I’m lucky that I still have all my senses working for me and I haven’t had any of them that needed help. My hearing is fine and no need for ear aids yet and the eyes see just fine as far as I can tell and I don’t wear eyeglasses. My taste buds still like food and my smelling senses often attract me to those foods. I’m still able to type and know when I hit the keys, so I would say that my touch is working properly and no problems there. I could imagine if I did loose one of my senses or needed help in some way to have them working better and the stress that would come from it. I think we all take things for granted sometime and I have taken my senses for granted. I would just like to take the time now to be thankful that I can still use all of my senses fine and I’m sure many of my friends wished I just had common sense to go along with them!

No Diets Now with Football Here

If you’re on a diet or was thinking about one, you might want to hold off on it for a bit. The football season is just now beginning and laying around on the couch all weekend long watching football isn’t the best way to shed those pounds. It doesn’t help seeing all the food commercials you will have to endure during this time. So just put the diet pills up for now and make sure the cable bill is paid and the television is tuned properly. We don’t want any disturbances once kick off gets here and it’s the best time of the year! All the college teams are ready and the NFL teams are ready and now the only question that remains is; are you ready?

Moving is No Fun

I am lucky to have lived in the same house for about 30 years now and haven’t had to deal with moving to a new home. I have had the pleasure of helping others move their stuff into a new home and it’s an all day job. If you’re getting ready to move, you will want to make sure you have plenty of help and trucks to carry all of your things. It’s best if you can make the move all in one day and get it over with. The big items are a pain as you would expect them to be, but the small things take just as much time moving as the big stuff does too. You will want to get a lot of moving boxes to store the smaller items in and this will be less bending over and picking up. I think the best thing people could do is sell their old home with the stuff already in it and just order new things for your new home. The delivery companies would help save time and energy for all the big things we have to put in our homes. I’m sure the moving part is a price most will pay to move to a new place, but you will soon learn that moving is no fun and you will want all the help you can find!

What’s on your Coffee Table?

I know most of our living rooms or dens have coffee tables and was just curious to what extent do they get used in your household. Is your coffee table like the one at the doctor’s office where it just holds a few magazines, pictures and perhaps a TV Guide? Is your coffee table more like a dinner table in the kitchen and drinks and people are constantly eating off of it? Maybe you just use it like the recliner or the couch in your living rooms and you just like having a coffee table to throw your feet up on while watching television. I personally don’t like going to places where you’re not allowed to put your feet on the coffee table or you have to have a drink coaster to sit a drink on the coffee table. I think all coffee tables should be used for feet, food, drinks and to sit the magazines, daily mail and newspapers on. The more ways you can use your coffee table to make life easier for you, I say go for it! Be sure to let me know how you use your coffee table.

Dow Tumbles on Thursday

The Dow plunged more than 300 points on Thursday and this was one of the sharpest drops we have seen in a long time. Presidential election on the horizon, multiple hurricanes heading for the U.S., current global situations and gas prices didn’t mix well with the latest jobless claim numbers that came out today. You start factoring in all of these things and you could have almost forecasted a sharp drop like this. The Dow dropping 344 points on Thursday does create panic on Wall Street and investors that follow the market daily are probably a little worried too. So are we looking at a buying opportunity right now? Its possible investors could surge ahead a bit over the next 12 months with the bargain basement prices that are out there now on most stocks. I still would hold off making a large investment into the market until things become clearer. There will be a window for investors in November after the elections are over and we are almost done with the current hurricane season. However, waiting until Turkey Day might be a little too late and the 2nd week in November is primed for investors to take advantage of stocks that have sharp drops. So don’t rush into the market just yet and see if the market makes 1 or 2 more corrections before we start to see the usual late year surge as the holiday season approaches.

Land on the moon is for sale and now you can buy a piece. It’s true, you can buy land by the acre on the moon and it’s all yours to keep. This is a great idea and does make a great gift to give someone during holidays. I always wanted to win the lottery so I could give out nice gifts for birthdays and Christmas, but buying land on the moon isn’t that expensive. You might not be able to afford an acre of land here on Earth, but the rates on the moon are much cheaper! I guess Bill Gates could buy the moon if he wanted to, but you don’t have to be that rich to buy 1 acre of moon property. Go check out the rates that are very cheap and I’m sure there is someone special in your life that you would like to buy land on the moon for. Property is now for sale on the moon and you better hurry because space is limited!

School Shooting Again

The school year has just started and there has already been 1 school shooting at a high school. It’s amazing how this is becoming a trend and these young people are throwing away their lives and others too. I can remember going to school and my biggest worry was having some acne cream for pimples. Today’s kids have so much more to worry about and teens with guns are not a good mixture. Parents have to step up and not allow their teens to have access to guns, but I want to focus on the students. If your a student and you found this blog post because you did a search on “school shootings”; I hope it’s for research purposes or curiosity only. If you have any thoughts of trying a stunt like this, let me tell you there are much better ways to deal with things.

I know how some of your fellow classmates can make you mad and you want them dead. It’s a natural feeling, but carrying through with it is not. I really got upset with about 5 or 6 guys during my days in school and now they are some of the best friends in the world I have. If you will give your situation time, you will see things change over time. I know a lot of people that use to hate someone and as time passed, they learned to be friends with them or needed them in some way later in life. Now isn’t the time to be burning bridges and no matter what anyone does to you or says about you, just let it go and you will see that your paths will cross again in the future. The future will be as adults and probably with families too and you will really see what is important in life. So let’s cut the school shootings out and watch how things change in the future with those people that you can’t stand now.

The Journey is Half the Fun

Taking a long trip or going on summer vacation can take a lot more time to plan and get there, than the actual time that we spend at our actual destination. We do a lot of thinking and preparing before we make a trip and we also take a lot of time getting to our desired destination. The time you spend going to your destination of choice can be half of the fun while you’re on vacation. I know we are all excited to hurry up and arrive on our trips, but the journey there is part of the experience and some of my best memories come from the traveling part of my trips. I know the place you stay in can be a lot of fun and nice memories come from the place that you are boarding at for the stay of your vacations. A nice hotel, motel or staying at one of the laughlin hotels can be a place that many memories will come from years down the road. It’s strange all of the times we can remember about being in our hotel rooms or the driving time we spent going on our vacations. You would think that we would remember the actual vacation part of the trip and the activities we did or had planned to do. After all, that was the whole reason for the trip or vacation in the first place, but it doesn’t always work out that way. I have random thoughts of vacations in the past and they all have to do with the long drive or time spent in our rooms on vacation. So remember that when you make your next trip and try to enjoy the long ride you have to endure or the memories you have from the hotel or motel rooms, because they will be the memories that you carry with you for the longest, when you reflect back on your trip years down the road.
