Does your family leave cookies for Santa each year? What is the cookies you like to leave out and which ones do you think Santa Claus likes the best? I have been real good this year and I am hoping for a big Christmas. I want to make sure I have everything lined up properly and all the way down to the last details. Is the store bought chocolate chip cookies fine for Santa or should I make some homemade cookies for the man that will be visiting my house this year?

I know it’s a long drive from the North Pole and I also hear it’s pretty cold up there. Warm cookies and a little warm milk can go a long ways to warming up the blood stream. I just hope it warms his heart enough to leave me something really good this year. I hope all the parents out there are helping their children decide what type of cookies to leave for good ol jolly St. Nick. Leaving cookies for Santa Claus is only one of the traditions we should keep intact every Christmas. If we don’t try a little harder to keep these traditions going; then it will be easy to fall asleep on Christmas Eve. No one should fall asleep easily on December 24th. This one day of the year was meant for us to lay awake in our beds, so we can think about tomorrow and all those other things that go through our heads on Christmas Eve night. I think a lot of soul searching goes on during this time and Christmas Eve night is a good way for children and the adults to find themselves and decide how they want to make the New Year a better one. As long as we make next year better than the year before, then we are doing alright. I think it all starts with the cookies and leaving cookies for Santa Claus can help us all.

A new movie that is set in Nome, Alaska is said to be a fact based movie on alien abduction. It’s called the Fourth Kind and I’m sure this new movie is going to get a lot of attention. It’s probably a safe guess to say that 99 percent of the people living in the world don’t believe in alien abductions. We hear about them a lot, but no good proof that an alien abduction has ever happened on the planet Earth. Now we have a new movie called the 4th Kind and it’s claiming to be based on real life facts. I know the 1 percent of people that believe in alien abductions will want to see this movie; while the rest of the 99 percent of non-believers will be curious to see too.

I would like to watch this movie the Fourth Kind and see how real it does appear. Have you heard about it yet? Did you know about the Fourth Kind before you read my blog post today? I think this movie is going to draw a lot of attention from us all and since it is claiming to be a true story, it’s going to see its share of critics.

How does this movie get its title? There is actually a scale on aliens and it breaks down into “kinds”. You remember a popular movie called Close Encounters of the Third Kind? That is one of the “kinds” and there is 4 that got created back in 1972. This was the scale that got set up to measure our contacts with aliens and UFO’s:

First Kind – Seeing a UFO or observing a alien aircraft

Second Kind – Providing evidence of an UFO or alien

Third Kind – Contact with a UFO, alien, or extra terrestrial

Fourth Kind – Being abducted by a alien or UFO

The new movie that is based on actual events would fit into the 4th level on this scale and it’s the 4th Kind. Apparently this took place in Alaska and many people have gone missing from a certain area in Alaska. The movie plans to shed light on the alien aspect of things. Others believe the Government is to blame for the people missing in this area in Alaska and it’s just a cover up on their end. This movie may not change any beliefs or answer any questions, but it will expose some light on all the mysterious things that have been taking place in Alaska. I wasn’t aware of these strange things and people that have went missing in Alaska over the years. I look forward to seeing this new movie the Fourth Kind and also trying to do some research on this interesting Alaskan mystery.

Do you or someone you know suffer from mesothelioma? It seems in most cases people that suffer from this form of cancer has contracted it through the workplace. I know a sunburn is not a good comparison to mesothelioma, but it is a good way of demonstrating the things we take for granted. When I get a sunburn on the face, it’s hard for me to brush my hair the way I normally would. At night when I go to sleep, I don’t feel any pains or discomforts from my face and head areas. When I get a sunburn, then I do feel like I’m running a fever and it’s hard to sleep with that feeling at nighttime. A sunburn does cause a person to change their daily routines and it’s a good example of how we take things for granted sometimes. I’m glad I am healthy for the most part, but do understand to a certain extent how the lives of people with mesothelioma are so much different than the rest of us. Please try to share your time with those that need your help or the people that have meso issues they’re dealing with each day.

The man known as the “chosen one” or “King James” is this year’s winner of the prestigious MVP award that the NBA hands out each year. It’s not easy being the Most Valuable Player in the NBA with all the great talent that is out there right now. It was a tough vote this year and I figured Kobe Bryant of the Los Angeles Lakers would get it this year. Kobe did lead his Lakers Team to the League’s best record. The Western Conference teams play a tough schedule and it was impressive that Kobe Bryant could lead his team to the best record in the Western Conference and still have a better record than any teams from the East.

Dwayne Wade was the NBA leading scorer this year and he deserved some consideration for MVP this year. I think Bryant or Wade would have been a better choice, but voters didn’t see it that way. LeBron James did lead the Cleveland Cavaliers to a great record this year and they are one of the best teams in the East right now. I know LeBron James is a great player and he has a lot of fans and support out there. I just don’t think this was his year and tough to award a guy the MVP Award in the NBA when his team doesn’t have the best record or the fact he didn’t lead the NBA in scoring. The wins and scoring are two big stats that usually get awards, but not in this case.

LeBron James is the first Cavalier to win a MVP and it is nice to see the voters in the big markets recognize his talents. The sports markets in New York and Los Angeles are huge and they usually get their way in these type of voting awards. Miami isn’t as big, but they are much more recognized than the city of Cleveland is in the sports world. I do like the fact the Cleveland Browns and the NFL let LeBron appear in a commercial wearing a Brown’s uniform. That is a great commercial and LeBron’s popularity does travel outside the borders of the NBA and he’s known in all sports and around the world.

It is now time for LeBron to lace them up tight and try to get to the NBA Finals again. He’s already been there once, but his Cleveland Cavalier team didn’t win that year. They faced the Detroit Pistons in the first round this year and beat them in 4 straight games. The opponent now is the Atlanta Hawks and LeBron James will have to figure out a way to beat the Hawks. The team from Atlanta has a lot of talent and athletes and Cleveland may have a tougher time winning against the Hawks. Don’t look for Cleveland to beat the Hawks in 4 games, but they will need to find a way to win 4 games out of 7; if LeBron and Company want to make another trip to the NBA Finals.

These are the most common things we top our dogs off with. I like a good beefy hotdog cooked on the grill. I don’t always have the time to cook them on the grill but a nice grilled dog is tasty. The All Star Weekend in Phoenix is over now, but I have my doubts about the dunk contest that took place. I’m not sure who the NBA thinks they are fooling, but the 2009 dunk contest was fixed. There is no doubts in my mind based on the way the judges scored the dunking. Rudy Fernandez scored a 42 on the hardest dunk of the evening and Dwight Howard received a 50 on his first dunk attempt. Both guys needed several tries to get their dunk right, so I’m not sure how you could take away from Fernandez for attempting his dunk multiple times.

It seems the NBA wanted to create a match up with the tallest dunker in the contest against the shortest slam dunker in the event. Nate Robinson and Dwight Howard was the two NBA players that advance to the finals in the dunk contest. I guess the NBA wanted to insure that the extra props that these two guys brung with them, would get used in the dunk contest. The NBA has to approve all props before hand, so they knew Nate Robinson and Dwight Howard were bringing a little extra to the table that night. Rudy Fernanadez had the best dunk all night long and not many guys could have did that dunk. I hope the NBA never tries to fix another dunk contest again! Do you think there was a fix on the NBA dunk contest?

The Tennessee Titans was the last of the undefeated teams for this year in the NFL. They had an amazing winning streak get snapped to one of the oldest quarterbacks in the game. Brett Favre led his New York Jets to a 21 point victory over the Titans that had won 10 games in a row. The Titans are still a good football team at 10-1 on the year and they will be seeing playoff games this year in the Volunteer State. Brett Favre probably just wrote his last chapter in the NFL and I doubt Brett Favre ever does anything great in the NFL again. Aaron Rodgers of the Green Bay Packers is a much better quarterback, regardless what Terry Bradshaw says. Brett is done in the Big Apple and the Jets team will follow behind their aging leader.

The New England Patriots had the perfect season last year and they won all 16 of their regular season games. The Titans team and their fans should be proud of a great effort this year and they have beaten the odds every week; when no one would give them a way to win. The Titans have just woke up every Sunday this year and went out and played better football than the rest of the teams. The Jets and Favre got lucky and the winning streak shouldn’t have got snapped here but it is probably best for the Titans that it did. They can now go back to playing good football and get their team ready for a post season run that could lead them all the way to the Super Bowl.

The long presidential race has came to an end and that end was found at Grant Park in Chicago, Illinois. Some think it’s a bad time to become president, but I disagree. Things are broke now, so the new president has nothing to lose. He can become a hero if things get fixed soon and no big deal if it doesn’t. I was favoring the McCain route for president and so was my state of Georgia. I don’t think either candidate was that attractive, but it’s no longer up for debate. We have a president and he is our first black president, so we all must come together as Americans and support our new president. Things need to be fixed in this country and hopefully the voters know more than I do and they did put the best man in office. Rock Obama is going on right now in Chicago and all over America, as the African American citizens are really viewing this as a change. I think we got a lot more to prove as a nation and now is the time to back our new president and try to get things fixed with the economy and global warming issues.

The NBA season is just around the corner and will begin next week. That means it’s fantasy basketball time for all the owners out there that like to play fantasy sports. I have played fantasy football, fantasy basketball, fantasy baseball and fantasy hockey. I have even gave fantasy NASCAR and fantasy golf a try and I love a lot of the fantasy sports. It’s great when your the owner, GM and coach all rolled up into one and you can make all the decisions for your team. You can draft your favorite players and you get to use the real-life players to prove if your method works or not against other fantasy owners. I have just completed my live online draft tonight and we had 8 team owners show up out of 10 teams. So I expect this to be a very active fantasy basketball league.

I randomly was awarded the 5th overall pick in the draft. So I got the 5th pick and then it goes down to the 10th team and after the 10th team makes their pick, they get the first pick in the 2nd round of our live online fantasy basketball draft. It was good to be right in the middle of the draft and I got the chance to stay busy because I never had to wait more than 10 picks until I got to pick again. So which players did I get on my team? I might be kinda weak in the 3 point shooting area too, but I do have a lot of guards on the roster that might can overcome that. I have a real athletical team and I believe these guys will get a ton of minutes each night. They can’t produce points if they aren’t on the roster, so I think I have the opportunity to be a real tough team. I can’t wait for the season to start and watch my Atlanta Hawks play and to see my guys from fantasy play too!

There has been so many upsets to this point, I don’t think there is a clear favorite to the teams that reamain in the field of 65 from the NCAA Mens Basketball Tournament. I love the tournament format in college basketball; where all the team compete on a neutral court and actual games are played to determine the winner. We have no ranking system in place and we really get to see which men’s college basketball team is the best.
