The famous Shamu at Sea Worldis now a real killer whale. In a horrible accident today in Orlando, the large whale attacked and killed its trainer. It’s not clear what caused the accident or what made the whale attack its trainer, still the news is just now coming out of Florida. It is surprising to hear about this story; after seeing Shamu so many times on television. The creature never did look like a threat to anyone’s safety. You could often see kids working and playing with Shamu in the waters that are located inside the Florida theme park.

Shamu is the main attraction for people that visit Sea World each year. Not sure what the theme park plans to do now; since Shamu has attacked and killed the trainer that was working with him/her. I guess we will have to wait for more information to come out. It’s a tragic event and I’m sure many folks are shook up right now with the killer whale’s deadly act today in central Florida. The Sea World theme park is located next to Disney World in Florida.

The whole world is looking in on Canada today. It’s time for the 2010 Winter Olympic Games to begin and it all gets started in Vancouver, Canada. I think Canada is a great choice for the Winter Olympics and they have a lot of room to host all the different events that make up the 2010 Games. I haven’t checked the schedule yet to see which events will take place on certain days and times. I will be eager to see when a lot of these events will come on television, so I can take-in this years 2010 Olympics.

The USA Hockey Team will be high on my list of things to watch this year. It seems we get a little bit better each time and now we are 4 more years into the future. I have already seen one headline at Yahoo talking about the Russian Hockey Team and how they look unstoppable on paper. I believe they have 16 players on their team that also play in the NHL or National Hockey League. The paid athletes wasn’t always allowed to play in the Olympics. Many changes have been made to the rules over the years and now they do allow professional athletes to compete in the Winter and Summer Olympic Games. What are your thoughts on professionals participating in the Olympics?

Do you think professional athletes should be allowed to play in the Olympics?

A. Yes

B. No

C. In Some Events

I think the correction was long over due and I love seeing my favorite professional athletes competing in the Olympics. For the Summer Olympics there is nothing better than watching the USA Basketball Team or “Dream Team” play against the other countries in basketball. That first Dream Team was special when we got to see Magic Johnson, Larry Bird, Dominique Wilkins, Charles Barkley, Patrick Ewing, and Michael Jordan playing on the same team. There has never been a time where that much talent was on the same team in the same sport competing against other teams in that same sport. Those guys had it going on and the original Dream Team still stands out today. The Dream Teams that followed the original one, never was able to assemble the best of the best on one team. I would love to be able to hand select our Dream Team in 2012 for the Summer Olympics. My cast of NBA players for the 2012 Olympic Dream Team would be:

1. Kobe Bryant

2. Dwayne Wade

3. Carmelo Anthony

4. Kevin Durant

5. Josh Smith

6. Dwight Howard

7. Tim Duncan

8. LeBron James

9. Chris Bosh

10. Carlos Boozer

11. Kevin Martin

12. Derrick Rose

I think these will be the 12 best basketball players the Americans could offer up in the 2012 Olympic Games. Feel free to give me your list of the best 12 players you think will be available for the Summer Olympics that is still a little over 2 years away. Perhaps someone over at Yahoo Sports sees the Russian Hockey Team as the “Dream Team” for the Winter Games in Vancouver this year. I guess I will have to root for the USA Hockey Team every time and who ever is playing against the Russians in hockey.

All the athletes are now in Canada and ready to go for gold in their special events. Let the games begin and let’s see which country has the greatest athletes competing in Vancouver this year. It should be interesting to see how the Americans do against all the other countries that are known for their strengths in the 2010 Winter Olympics.

We know some birds are seasonal and will fly south for the winter. I think some people mimic these birds and they will go to Florida or some other warm destination for their winters. I know some people have health conditions and the cold winter temperatures can cause these folks a lot of aches and pains. So each year around the fall time they will hire moving companies to relocate them to a warmer climate. Birds follow this same pattern and they will go to places that are warmer too. Once the cold weather passes up north, the birds and people will move back to their summer homes. For people they probably have a lot of ties to their northern roots and would prefer to live in their summer homes year round. It must be nice to escape winter each year, but I do like the cold weather when it snows. If it’s not going to snow, then I prefer the short sleeve weather too. I just wonder if any of these birds share the same warmer areas as the people that moved south with them?

There will be about 1 billion people that will tune in next Sunday to watch Super Bowl 44 in Miami. Fans will get treated to the best 2 football teams this year. It’s been a long time since we have seen the two very best teams going head to head in the Super Bowl. I believe they said it was 1993 the last time this happen in the National Football League. I look forward to seeing what Peyton Manning can do in this big game and I think we are currently witnessing the best QB to have ever played the game. His counterpart on Super Bowl Sunday is pretty good too. Drew Brees is carrying the whole weight of a city on his shoulders andit’s no ordinary city. Many football fans around the Louisiana area see this Super Bowl as an achievement and a reward for all the pain and suffering they have had to endure over the last few years or so. Hurricane Katrina did a lot of damage in New Orleans, but the massive hurricane could not damage the spirits of all the good folks living in and around the New Orleans area.

Who will you be rooting for when all the Super Bowl hype is over and they can finally get down to playing some football? Will you be rooting for the talented Peyton Manning and his Indianapolis Colts? Or do you remember all the heartache and destruction that Hurricane Katrina left the city of New Orleans and will be hoping Drew Brees and the New Orleans Saints can win this one for the city of New Orleans? I’m not sure if this is one of those games you can walk the fence on, but I am having a hard time deciding on which team to root for Sunday. Some would probably say that you are either with the NFC Champion Saints or your on the side of the AFC Champion Colts.

Breaking down the game for Super Bowl 44 in Miami, I would have to look at it this way. Peyton Manning has the ability to make every team in the NFL look bad on any given Sunday. This includes the hot New Orleans Saints and their very talented quarterback Drew Brees. I would not be shocked to see the Indianapolis Colts come in so prepared; that they will have this one decided at halftime with a 24+ point lead. If the Colts go into halftime leading 31 to 7 or 34 to 10; then you can go ahead and chalk up a win for the Colts and they will be the new champions of the NFL. If the Saints can get lucky with a turnover or two and keep the Colts within 2 touchdowns; then I see the Saints playing a better 2nd half and they could squeak out a win in the Sunshine State.

Most NFL fans have probably traveled to Miami already in anticpation for the big game. The Pro Bowl just wrapped up last night in Miami and this was a part of the new format in the NFL. They decided not to travel to Hawaii this year and the Pro Bowl game got moved north to the state of Florida. The NFL All Stars that were slated to play in the Pro Bowl, but have a date with the Super Bowl next Sunday, was in attendance last night, but no one for the Colts or Saints played in the Pro Bowl Game in Miami, Florida.

I know you guys will want me to get off the fence and pick a winner, so here is my prediction for Super Bowl 44 in Miami. This is a hard one to pick, since Peyton Manning is the best all time QB ever and Drew Brees is the best QB this season.

TEAMS 1st Q 2nd Q 3rd Q 4th Q FINAL SCORE

Indianapolis Colts —20———7————7———–7———————41

New Orleans Saints—0———-3————10———-6———————19

Do you have a score prediction you would like to share with me and my blog’sreaders? Not only would I like to see your score predictions, but I would love to hear the reasons behind them too. I don’t think there is too much strategy involved when it comes to picking a Super Bowl MVP in the 44th annual Super Bowl Event. It would be very difficult for some other player that isn’t Drew Brees or Peyton Manning walk away with the Super Bowl MVP award. Going outside of the box and giving someone else a chance to win the MVP or Most Valuable Player, I will pick the tight end for the Colts wearing number 44 Dallas Clark as the MVP. I see number 44 winning MVP in Super Bowl 44; if any player even has a shot at the prestigious award with Drew and Peyton participating in this game.

Have you or your family found any caribbean vacation deals online? If so, you’re probably planning a trip to the Islands soon. It must be nice getting ready for a trip to the Caribbean Islands. I think the sun is always shinning there. If it does rain, it will probably clear up real fast and you won’t even be able to tell that it was raining just a few moments ago. I’m jealous of all the lucky travelers that get to visit this part of the world each year or have visited there at least once. I have never been outside of the States, but if I could pick one travel destination outside my country’s borders, I do believe the Caribbean would be my first choice.

There are a lot of great places to visit in this part of the world. Some of the most popular tourist attractions in the Caribbean Region is places like Jamaica, Barbados, Saint Lucia, the Bahamas, and the Cayman Islands. I would also want to visit our U.S.A. friends in Puerto Rico; since this area is considered a territory of the United States. It would be tough coming up with a travel itinerary for each of these great places in the Caribbean. You would want to visit as many spots as possible, but would want to stay at each one for as long as you could. I guess if I could only pick one part to visit, I would have to go with the Bahamas. I have seen more beautiful pictures in the Bahamas compared to the other places travelers like to visit. Which place would you choose; if you could only select one spot in the Caribbean Islands?

I think it would be a lot of fun to tour all the gold prospecting places and mining camps across the United States. I love watching the TV shows that are about gold prospecting. The prices of gold are so high right now, it makes searching for gold a lot more interesting than just a couple of years ago. If you had a big recreational vehicle you could drive across the country in and visit all these places; then it would be a lot of fun. As long as you could avoid an rv breakdown on your journey through the States.

If you join the Gold Prospectors Club they will give you a book that will have all the gold claims in the U.S. in it. They say you’re free to go prospecting on any of them, but it doesn’t say it’s free to do. So I’m not sure if there is additional fees that members would have to spend or not. I would like to find about 20 to 25 places I could plan to visit and stay 1 to 2 days at each one. Then I could go back and see which places I found the most gold at and plan longers stays at these gold prospecting camps. If it is free to do, then I really just need a big van or a RV to load up in and head out in search for that pretty yellow metal.

As crazy as our weather patterns have been over the last few years, it’s not really that big of a surprise that the Midwestern states and Texas are seeing tornadoes in December. It seems tornadoes are starting to touch down in places that we don’t typically see them. There is an imaginary belt over the U.S. that you can normally find most tornadoes. This pattern doesn’t hold up these days and just about everybody is vulnerable to a severe thunderstorm or even a tornado. I guess the folks living in mobile homes might want to think about a stronger structure or ways to make their mobile homes and trailers stronger against high winds. I’m not sure how most owners react during storms; when they do live in a trailer or mobile home. I know it would be understandable for these people to have concerns during these storms that produce high winds. I would probably seek shelter at a relatives house or a friend’s place, before I would chance it, in one of these mobile homes. Some people may not have another place to go or not be prepared to leave if the storm hits late at night. I’m sure the people making mobile homes these days take some kind of consideration; when they design these types of homes. The odds are still heavily in your favor that a tornado will never cross your path, but when you start seeing them in December, it does make you think twice.

Almost 8PM here in the East. Lots of college football players and their fans, coaches, and schools are waiting the big announcement. It should be coming soon to see which two teams will be in the big game and all of the other college bowl games. I think TCU deserves that 2nd spot with Texas failing to perform yesterday and against other opponents this year. A TCU and Alabama final would be justice in a way for the current BCS Rankings.

Some schools get automatic bids to certain bowl games, so a few know where they’re going already. Some schools still don’t know which college bowl game they will be in or who they’re playing. I am eager to see where a few schools will go and who they will be playing. I hope to see some SEC Teams or ACC Teams face some of those other football conferences that are all hype and we can prove that in the bowl games. I don’t expect the PAC 10 to do well against the ACC or SEC conferences, but how many of these match ups will we get? The bowl games are good for one thing and it’s a chance for football conferences to have bragging rights over the other conferences.

Stay tuned and let’s see what they do with these bowl games. I will probably be upset at the pairings, because there is a lot of things wrong in college football and I hope someone will fix it soon. If you want to see where your favorite college football team will be playing this year; then just turn the TV to your local Fox Station and catch the BCS Selection Show. It comes on at 8PM EST or 5PM PST. Good luck!

*Congrats to the Alabama Crimson Tide for being this year’s top college football team in America

It’s strange to think about families planning a trip to a park for a vacation. I don’t think there is any other state in the United States that works like the Sunshine State does. Florida has that unique ability to attract families living within the borders of their state and outside their borders to visit their parks for a week long vacation. I guess these aren’t the typical parks and these are very well-designed theme parks. You may see another state with a theme park that is as good as any in Florida, but how many can match up to the number of theme parks Florida can provide? This is why so many families plan orlando vacations each year. The number of theme parks in central Florida is more than any other state could offer. When a family chooses Mickey Mouse as their travel destination, they also are making plans to be real close to the Kennedy Space Center in Cape Canaveral, Florida and Daytona Beach is just an hour’s drive to the east. If you don’t like the ocean on the east side of Florida; then a short drive to the west will put you on the Gulf of Mexico. If you’re talking about vacation capitals of the world, it would be hard to beat Orlando, Florida for the beaches nearby, the attractions, and of course the famous theme parks in Orlando. It really is the perfect place for kids, but there is enough adult entertainment to plan a Orlando vacation without the kids.

A new movie that is set in Nome, Alaska is said to be a fact based movie on alien abduction. It’s called the Fourth Kind and I’m sure this new movie is going to get a lot of attention. It’s probably a safe guess to say that 99 percent of the people living in the world don’t believe in alien abductions. We hear about them a lot, but no good proof that an alien abduction has ever happened on the planet Earth. Now we have a new movie called the 4th Kind and it’s claiming to be based on real life facts. I know the 1 percent of people that believe in alien abductions will want to see this movie; while the rest of the 99 percent of non-believers will be curious to see too.

I would like to watch this movie the Fourth Kind and see how real it does appear. Have you heard about it yet? Did you know about the Fourth Kind before you read my blog post today? I think this movie is going to draw a lot of attention from us all and since it is claiming to be a true story, it’s going to see its share of critics.

How does this movie get its title? There is actually a scale on aliens and it breaks down into “kinds”. You remember a popular movie called Close Encounters of the Third Kind? That is one of the “kinds” and there is 4 that got created back in 1972. This was the scale that got set up to measure our contacts with aliens and UFO’s:

First Kind – Seeing a UFO or observing a alien aircraft

Second Kind – Providing evidence of an UFO or alien

Third Kind – Contact with a UFO, alien, or extra terrestrial

Fourth Kind – Being abducted by a alien or UFO

The new movie that is based on actual events would fit into the 4th level on this scale and it’s the 4th Kind. Apparently this took place in Alaska and many people have gone missing from a certain area in Alaska. The movie plans to shed light on the alien aspect of things. Others believe the Government is to blame for the people missing in this area in Alaska and it’s just a cover up on their end. This movie may not change any beliefs or answer any questions, but it will expose some light on all the mysterious things that have been taking place in Alaska. I wasn’t aware of these strange things and people that have went missing in Alaska over the years. I look forward to seeing this new movie the Fourth Kind and also trying to do some research on this interesting Alaskan mystery.
