If you like to shop online and love great deals; then I have a good suggestion on a website you need to see. Liquidation.com is a surplus store online and they are even listed on the NASDAQ (LQDT). You will find all types of items here to shop for online. I think some of their best deals are wholesale housewares they have available. I see a long list of items that are up for auction and you can sign up and place your own bids there. Just about anything you need for the house is available here and these are items that are in good condition and cheaper than you normally would find. I may have to start watching their listings more often and see if I can find any cheap bargains via the auction route. Another holiday is fast approaching here in the States and this is our special independence holiday. The 4th of July is celebrated by most Americans and a few traditions have been picked up along the way. I’m not sure what the most popular thing to do on the 4th of July is, but I would guess it is the fireworks. That seems to be the one thing that every small town in America does and shooting off the fireworks have become a tradition for many cities and small towns in our great country.

I know dusting off the grill and cooking out is big too. Most of my relatives like to get the charcoal out and fire up the grill for all sorts of different foods. I guess hamburgers and hotdogs are the most common, but there are other things we like to eat off the grill too. Seafood is great on the grill and fresh vegetables work nicely too. A few pork chops or a nice steak isn’t bad either and it all taste good if its been prepared on the grill.

I hope you and your family have a great 4th of July this year! This is the time to take off from work and spend time with the family. Go ahead and get the outdoor furniture and grill out this year and invite a few relatives and friends over. If your local city doesn’t have a fireworks show scheduled for the 4th of July evening; then go ahead and sneak a few fireworks for your family’s 4th of July celebration. Just make sure you don’t eat too much or get burned from lighting the fire crackers and bottle rockets.

Is there anything better than a hamburger with fries? This is the meal that I eat most often and normally I am going to fast food restaurants to get it. I don’t eat a lot of home cooking and the fast food restaurants prepare most of my meals. I’m sure there are others that eat a lot of meals that consist of only a burger with fries; since they are so many fast food restaurants that have these two items as their main sellers. I know many people think McDonalds was built on its burgers, but it’s actually the fries at McDonalds that have been their big seller. The people from McDonalds realize the value of their fries and it’s not just a side item for them. They take many steps to insure that their fries get prepared properly and from their point of view, the burgers are their side items.

The reason Burger King, Wendys, Hardees, and other popular hamburger places haven’t been as successful as McDonalds is because of the fries. These other places have focused on the burgers and they just added their fries as a side item to the menu. McDonalds has taken their focus off of the burgers and used the fries as their driving force that keeps millions coming in each week to eat at their place.

Some people see all hamburgers the same and really don’t see a big difference in fast food restaurants. The people that do recognize the differences in burgers are also the ones that can determine which fries are the best too. Other hamburger places haven’t worked on bringing in a quality tasting fry yet; so they continue to switch-up the making of their burgers and other sandwich items. You don’t have to look at the sandwich and improve it for most of these places, because it’s not really the factor that gets the consumers in to eat. The little things can be big and this is really true when it comes to the fries at each fast food restaurant. You can even see by the picture above that the burger is the main attraction and the fries just sit in the background. It’s that background that can make the difference; when it comes to fast food restaurants that mainly sell burgers and fries. The flavor has never been about the burger, but the flavor of the fries is what we really want. You probably don’t even think of the fries that much, but the majority of us are choosing to eat at McDonalds more than the rest of the places that can sell you a hamburger with fries.

KFC has done well with their potato wedges and these do give McDonald restaurants a run for their money. In this case it comes down to people choosing what they want to eat for their lunch or dinner. You either want fried chicken or you want a good hamburger. Since KFC doesn’t sell burgers; McDonalds doesn’t have to worry about their potato wedges; which some people might like more than the famous McDonald fries.

How do you win this fast food game? The people from KFC could help their business out by adding a simple hamburger to the menu. This would allow customers to still get their famous fried chicken, but would allow the burger lovers to get an order of potato wedges with their hamburger. This might not be too easy to accomplish, since they were built on the chicken and not the cow.

However, McDonalds could give a tremendous boost to their sales each day, if they ever decided to add potato wedges to their menu. They would still need to keep their famous fries in place, but shouldn’t be too hard for them to start selling old fashion potato wedges to their customers. The places like Burger King and Wendy’s could also make a move in this direction and help their potatoes become a factor in the secret potato war that is going on with McDonalds and everyone else selling fries.

For those of you that have a Sonic fast food restaurant in your area, then you have the choice of tater tots or fries. If I was unable to beat another restaurant to the old fashion potato wedges idea; then I could cut some of my losses by adding tater tots to the menu. I do think many of these restaurants are missing out on sales, because they don’t offer a variety of ways to order the potatoes.

Arbys has been playing around with their menu some and they use to offer 3 ways to get potatoes. None of these ways was the old fashion potato wedges, but you could get curly fries, home-style fries, or their potato cakes which is a lot like hash browns. There aren’t a lot of places to get curly fries these days and this would be another good move for the big chains that sell burgers and fries. McDonalds is sitting in the driver’s seat now, so they don’t have to do anything. If McDonalds does ever add old fashion potato wedges, tater tots, or curly fries to their menu; they would really create more distance between them and everyone else selling burgers and fries. The secret to the hamburger is the fries and it seems McDonalds is the only fast food company that has noticed this.

Money hasn’t been easy to find these days for me, so I have been slacking off from a few things I normally have done by now. If you could see my car right now; then you would know what I mean. I haven’t washed it yet and it really shows right now. I may need to find some pressure washers or get a few hoses like the fire department uses to blast off all the dirt now. I know the typical water pressure you get from the car wash won’t be enough to take off all the dirt. The dirt that is on my car now is built in and it’s not going to be easy to remove. It will take some brushes and elbow grease to get my car totally clean. I can’t believe it is already June and I haven’t washed my car one time yet. This is the longest I have ever gone without washing one of my vehicles and if you could see my car now, you could see just how dirty it really is. I was hoping recent rains would have cleaned it up a bit, but it doesn’t appear the rain is washing any of that dirt off. I guess I will have to start saving my quarters, so I can take it in for a good cleaning.

The Boy Scouts of America are still doing the same things they have done for decades and nothing has changed in their philosophy. In 2009 these young boys are learning about something new that other scouts haven’t had to deal with in the past and this is swine flu. The new disease that is quickly going across the globe has now caught up to our kids and the Boy Scouts have to deal with it now.

A terrible story out of North Carolina has come out today and lots of the scouts in that area are said to be sick. Camp Daniel Boone was the location in North Carolina that was keeping boy scouts and some of these scout troops have tested positive for the new flu virus known as swine flu. One group of boys from Dunwoody, Georgia was attending the camp in North Carolina and they are now infected with swine flu and many others seem to have the same cold and flu like symptoms that swine flu causes. They are steps in place now to keep these boy scouts contained so they don’t infect anyone else and cause this new virus to spread. Many of the kids at Camp Daniel Boone are sick and it would appear this is where the swine flu started from. I’m sure the parents of these boy scouts are very concerned and worried about the health of their children right now. We know so little about this new virus and no parent wants to see their kids getting sick from this or anything else. I hope all the boy scouts that are feeling ill right now do make a fast recovery and this new virus proves to be something that our children can fight off and survive from. We should see a decrease in the spreading soon in children, since school is out for the summer in most states. Hopefully we can learn more about the swine flu before classes start back at school in the fall.

I’m sure you or someone in your family owns a camera. Usually every family has that one person that is always taking pictures at birthday parties, graduations, holidays, or other random events you want captured on film. It really is great to look back at the old times and in the past to see how we looked and what we was doing on specific days. I know some family pictures will always be cherished for as long as we live and we wouldn’t ever want to see anything happen to them. If you enjoy the pictures, then I highly recommend getting a video camera. These cameras capture live action and sound, so we can go back and see people like they once were.

Now for our family I have been the guy that always has the camcorder and have went around capturing our family memories. I enjoy doing this and it really is a lot of fun to do. It’s even better when you get a chance to make copies of certain events and pass them out to everyone. I always like seeing and hearing what people thought of my work and just going back down memory lane watching these old videos of the past. If you haven’t got a video camera right now, you should really think about buying one. The cameras today are really not that expensive and you do get your money back over and over from them. They come in handy for those special events that will only come around once and once you record it and make several copies, you will always have these special moments on tape. I love being the camera guy and the camcorders are so much better than the average camera that just takes still shots. You need to make preparations now for saving the special moments on tape, so you will have those memories you can live over one day in the future. I’m sure you can think of something you wished you had a video camera for and had on tape right now to look at and enjoy once again. They will be more family reunions and other special events that will take place again in our lives and we will want them on tape one day. Make the time now to get a good camera, so you can be prepared to capture those special memories on film.

School is out for the summer and the kids are looking for something to do. It’s not always easy on parents to find things for the kids during summer time, but they are some fun things the kids can do (if parents will let them). I know getting out the water guns can be a lot of fun for them. This works best for those that have outside garden hoses and don’t have to make constant trips in and out of the house. This can leave water on the floor; not to mention letting all the cool air from the A/C out.

A few water guns for all of your kids and make sure you have enough for the neighbor’s kids too. Let them choose up sides and fill them up and go at it. The kids love to shoot each other with water guns and this type of water fun is usually safe and the kids can do this all day long. It’s really great for the younger kids that you like to get in bed by 9PM and love for them to be active during the daytime hours. I know we had a lot of good water gun battles as kids and they are memories that last a life time. You can create these memories for your kids too and let them fill up the water guns ever now and then and you will love seeing the smiles on their faces. Just make sure you confiscate all the water guns when the water hose gets turned off and the battle is over!

A fascinating story is coming out of New Jersey today and involves reality television. It appears that Jamie Czerniawski has been accused of stabbing her husband. She is claiming that it was self-defense and she used a kitchen knife to defend herself from her husband that was attacking her. She slashed him in the throat with the kitchen knife and all of this apparently happened on the Memorial Day weekend.

You may or may not have heard of Jamie Czerniawski before, but you probably know about the popular TV show called Wife Swap. It is a reality show about two families and they will trade wives for a certain amount of time. The show is popular because they take two completely different types of families and trade off their wives and there is always an interesting mix when this happens. Jamie was one of the wife’s and her family was featured on this popular reality show. I have watched this show a few times and it is something pretty good to watch on TV when nothing else is on. I would love to see this specific show and see how things played out for this New Jersey family.

I know choosing where to spend your yearly vacation is just half of the decision you have to make each year. Once a destination has been chosen, you then need to find which motel, hotel, resort, condo, or other venue is going to keep you for the week. I know we can over look this sometimes, but it is important to stay at a nice place. The more comfortable you’re with the housing you have selected for the week; does make for a better vacation. If you travel to one of the states that have a Westgate available; then you would have no problems on which choice to make. This is the top of the line accommodations if you ask me and it doesn’t get any better than the services that are offered from any of the Westgate locations.

I live in Georgia and I think a Westgate would do really well here. I hope they decide to bring one to the Peach State one day. I know my family and others that live in North Georgia love to visit the Great Smoky Mountains in Tennessee. I can’t think of a better place in those mountains to stay at and I’m sure you will love it there!

The Detroit Red Wings and the Pittsburgh Penguins are all set for a big game 7 in the NHL Finals tonight. It’s not often you get a 7th game in the post season of a professional sports event and even more unique to see it happen in the series that determines the champion.

The Red Wings have fans all across the country and I’m sure there are a lot of people out there rooting for them to win this series at home tonight. I know they are the most popular hockey team that has fans that travel around North America to watch them. On the other side you have the young and talented guys for the Penguins and many would like to see them win the Stanley Cup tonight. I’m pretty sure Sidney Crosby is the most popular player in this match up and a lot of eyes will be on him in Game 7. It does look like Pittsburgh has a very bright future in front of them and win, lose, or draw tonight, they are going to be a force to wreckon with in the future for the rest of the NHL.

Buckle up and grab the snacks because the show is about to begin in Detroit and we will finally have a champion after tonight and get to see one team carry off the Stanley Cup. It should be a great game to watch and I think all hockey fans will have their eyes on the TV sets tonight.
