Owning a Swimming Pool is Hard Work
Monday, May 25th, 2009You may dream of having a swimming pool and how nice it would be to lay out in the sun on one of those pool floats lounges during the summer. The thought of going swimming anytime you like sounds fun, but you may want to consider all the hard work first. You may even be a bit jealous of those that own their own pools and wished you had one too. Not so fast and you may want to learn about the work involved with a swimming pool.
It takes a lot of effort to get your pool set up each year. It doesn’t take a lot of maintenance keeping your pool up, once you do fill it with water for the year. Filling the pool up with water is actually the fun part and you know most of the work is done when you get to turn on the water hose for a couple of days. To properly take care of your pool you need to scrub all the stuff that has built up on the floor of the pool and the sides of the pool. This greenish brown looking mold does come up pretty easy with a chemical and a little elbow grease. If you have a pretty good size pool; then you will need to scrub down the majority of it by hand. Making sure you have all the right chemicals in stock can be a chore too and some pools will use 7 or 8 different things you have to pick up at the supply store. Buying these supplies for the first time will eat a little money out of your wallet, but most of these things will last a couple of years. Filling up the pool with water will cause a sharp increase on the water bill too. You may think it’s pretty expensive to buy a swimming pool and have it installed, but keeping it up properly will cost you a pretty penny too. After seeing all the time and money you need to spend on a pool, it is really easier and cheaper to just go to a local town swimming pool or buying tickets to a water park.
