Time is ticking down and soon the boys of summer will be playing baseball once again. Our recent financial crisis is due to the big banks and bailing these guys out is not the solution. The big banks have led us down this bumpy road and the tough times all Americans are facing right now. Leave the big banks and switch over to the smaller community banks to help the economy. Relief will start when the housing industry gets back up and going again and hopefully the builders turn to the local banks to keep their money and work out the employee payrolls with them. The people working in jobs related to the housing market are the ones getting hit the hardest and hopefully they know that it’s the big banks fault. Let’s just hope the great citizens of this country don’t fall for the excuses the big banks are dishing out these days. Big banks were the root of the problem and sending any new money to this rotten root isn’t going to help anything grow in our economy. Big banks are not the solution and are only slowing us down from a recovery right now.

I wish computers were cheaper to buy and I would just buy a new one each time they became sluggish or slow. Often it’s the adware and spyware that causes them to start to drag. I have made it a point not to watch TV commercials anymore. I can’t stand waiting through a commercial break; while watching a movie or sporting event on TV. I really love the movie channels I get on satellite that don’t show commercials. All of the sports I watch on TV have commercials, so I generally stop the television when they come on. Pausing live TV is a great thing and everyone should own a DVR. A DVR or digital video recorder allows people to pause their programs; while they make a trip to the bathroom, the kitchen, or answer a telephone call. Once you have come back, you can just hit play and the program continues to play from where you paused it. A satellite or cable company offering a DVR with their subscription is the one you should take. Pausing live TV may not sound all that great, but it really is a great feature. I didn’t think I would like it that much when I got my first DVR player, but now I couldn’t live without it.

I will turn the channel to the news or a sporting event about to come on and then go do something to occupy my time for a few minutes or even an hour. I then can come back to the TV and hit play and start watching a game or the news. When a commercial break starts, I just press a button that fast forwards the TV 30 seconds ahead. I have other options for fast forwarding, but the 30 second button is what I use most. The majority of TV commercials last for 30 seconds, so hitting the 30 second button a few times will get you back to the starting point of your program.

A DVR also offers you the option of rewinding live TV. How many times did you miss something a person said in a movie?  Or how many times do you wish you could go back and take a closer look at something that you saw on TV? I have to admit that I have a lot of videos in my collection. I know some people that have three times more than me, but I do have about 300 movies to watch anytime I want to. Most of my videos are action, horror, or comedy movies. There isn’t a lot of classics or deep meaning videos I own or anything like Christian videos in my collection. I do like watching a lot of the older classics and movies that have a legendary name attached to them. Sometimes I hear about the older movies and know the name well, but have never sat down and watched them before. That is my story with the classic movie Ben Hur. I have always heard about that movie but only had the chance to watch it a few weeks ago. Ben Hur is a great movie and is based around a Christian faith and Jesus Christ. It was the only movie Charlton Heston won an Oscar in and if you have ever seen the movie you know why. If you haven’t seen Ben Hur before, you should really take the time one day to watch it. It does last about 4 hours or longer, but it really is a great movie. I know a lot of people liked Mel Gibson’s Passion of Christ and anyone that liked that movie will enjoy watching Ben Hur.

March Madness is here and college basketball fans everywhere will be filling out their brackets soon. This week we have the regional college tournaments going on and I look forward to watching some of those matchups. A few college basketball teams need a good showing in these regional tourneys for them to advance into the NCAA tournament. If they don’t pick up a few wins this week; they will be looking at a NIT appearance. The NIT tournament is fun to watch too, but all college teams want to go to the big dance and make it into the NCAA tournament.

A field of 64 teams playing on neutral courts and they all hope to make it to the final four. The last 4 teams standing in college basketball are all winners and a lot of attention gets focused on the final 4 teams. I think making it to the final four is just like winning a championship and all 4 teams are winners in my book. The team that loses the Super Bowl every year is a winner too and just making an appearance at the Super Bowl is an achievement and that’s a lot like the top 4 teams in the NCAA tournament.

We are still waiting to see what 64 teams will make up the 2009 field in college basketball, but you can already start thinking about the top teams and how they will do against each other, if they get a chance to play head to head. It will be a fun week of college basketball this week and it really gets fun after they announce the teams that will be playing in this year’s NCAA tournament!

I think we all dream about a big mansion with a swimming pool, but I would like to have some indoor water too. I have always wanted a huge fish aquarium or waterfall in my living room or den. I think indoor water is a great way to make a room shine and water dripping off rocks near the fireplace or a huge fish aquarium with tropical fish swimming around would certainly to the trick. I have also seen some wall fountains that would brighten up a room and make it the topic of conversation when friends and family visited. I know it must be frustrating watching the stock market these days and especially for those that have thousands of dollars currently invested. Investing more money now may make sense to some, but I don’t think investing in the down stocks is the right play right now. Your money could be sitting in an interest bearing account and making you some real money now. It’s still too risky to try and pick which stocks will go north this summer and investors should refrain from trying to buy up cheap stocks now. It is possible that things could get worse and you could lose out on new money you invested in the market now. Hold off on buying new stocks and let’s see what the end of June does for the housing market and if things start to look up then; you will still have time to find good deals on Wall Street.

Some movies are really cheap to buy in the stores these days. You can find good bargains if you search around. I know me and my friends have tons of movies on our tv stands that we can watch anytime. I still find myself watching movies on TV that I already own. I guess there is just something about watching it live on television than sticking it in the VCR or DVD player.

You can find movies for less than 5 dollars these days. Many of them are older and not popular movies, but if you look long enough you will find some good movie deals. I’m not big on seeing a movie for the 2nd time and one I have already watched before, but I am glad I have a big movie collection. I’m not sure just how many movies I have, but I think it would easily be over 300 movies I could watch anytime I wanted to. How many movies do you have in your collection? These aren’t that bad of movies, but just never had the big time names acting in them or they didn’t do well at the box office. New Zealand is an island country off the coast of Australia. It is one of the most beautiful places on Earth. I would love to go there some time and see the majestic waterfalls that are found in New Zealand. It is a taste of paradise from all the great pictures I have seen online from New Zealand.

I don’t plan to travel to New Zealand anytime soon, but it is certainly one of my top destinations to visit one day. I will have to make a trip to New Zealand, so I can experience all the breathe-taking views this tiny nation offers. It’s primarily made up of two islands and there is a northern and southern part to this island nation. I haven’t figured out which part I would like to see most, but hopefully I get the chance to see Northern New Zealand and Southern New Zealand.

Any island that is surrounded by an ocean makes a great place to visit. I can just imagine all the sea breezes and warm air that this island would offer. I do love going to the beach and I’m sure the beaches off of New Zealand are spectacular. I will have to start saving up my money now, so I can make a trip here some day.
