I am amazed at modern man’s ability to build things. My skills for building are still in the caveman days and I would be hopeless if I had to build some of the modern inventions of the 21st century. Something as simple as ball lock pins is crafted amazingly and has a neat little function with it. Just the way a door knob works on our doors and the function they serve to us is really amazing. Now if you drive to the big city and look up at those towering buildings that make up the skyline, it really makes you wonder how man can build something so big. What if you had to build a computer or car? Do you think you could do it? I know some people could if they had all of the parts needed, but I wouldn’t be one of those folks. I would be clueless if the world depended on me to build a car or a computer. I think I would have a lot of trouble building a fire without matches or a lighter to assist me.

Complex things and very large things do get built and someone has to be there building it. The reason man can build all of these things is because they are storing away data and making notes of the smallest discoveries. No one man invented the car or builds the Space Shuttle that goes into outer space. All of these things get built over a long period of time and it’s a result of many different men and women discovering how to build simple things and then combining them all together to have a finish product. That’s the whole process in a nutshell and usually there are just 1 or 2 people that make a major break through that leads to something getting built. However, those 1 or 2 people were probably using equipment and knowledge that had been developed by many other people before them. The NBA season is just around the corner and will begin next week. That means it’s fantasy basketball time for all the owners out there that like to play fantasy sports. I have played fantasy football, fantasy basketball, fantasy baseball and fantasy hockey. I have even gave fantasy NASCAR and fantasy golf a try and I love a lot of the fantasy sports. It’s great when your the owner, GM and coach all rolled up into one and you can make all the decisions for your team. You can draft your favorite players and you get to use the real-life players to prove if your method works or not against other fantasy owners. I have just completed my live online draft tonight and we had 8 team owners show up out of 10 teams. So I expect this to be a very active fantasy basketball league.

I randomly was awarded the 5th overall pick in the draft. So I got the 5th pick and then it goes down to the 10th team and after the 10th team makes their pick, they get the first pick in the 2nd round of our live online fantasy basketball draft. It was good to be right in the middle of the draft and I got the chance to stay busy because I never had to wait more than 10 picks until I got to pick again. So which players did I get on my team? So that’s the way I drafted them. I have waived Gilbert Arenas and trying to pick up Jason Maxiell from the Detroit Pistons. I need people that can block shots and he will help me there. I might be kinda weak in the 3 point shooting area too, but I do have a lot of guards on the roster that might can overcome that. I have a real athletical team and I believe these guys will get a ton of minutes each night. They can’t produce points if they aren’t on the roster, so I think I have the opportunity to be a real tough team. I can’t wait for the season to start and watch my Atlanta Hawks play and to see my guys from fantasy play too!

We had the microphone for a long time now and that is the first word that comes to my mind when thinking of “micro”. Soon the microwave oven would come along and gave us a new word to put first for “micro”. It seems everything is micro now and you have cell phones that are small and would be called microphones if the name hadn’t been taken already. We have microcomputers, microchips, micro sd and many other micros that we use on a daily basis.

No one needs to panic on Wall Street or Main Street and a correction is needed. The rich folks of America just don’t get it yet and soon they will the hard way. The 700 billion dollar bailout plan was described as something needed to help the stock market and they also told us that Main Street needed Wall Street. They forgot to mention that Wall Street needs Main Street and until they look at things as a two way street, things won’t be fixed. The financial institutions that are struggling right now need to fail. They obviously don’t have a product or service that we need and that is a way of weeding out things. AIG was not too big to fail! Let me repeat AIG WAS NOT TOO BIG TO FAIL! They just had investors from all over the world heavily invested in their business and most mutual funds owned a percentage of AIG too. So to bail them out would keep a lot of folks from losing money. However this is only for the short term and eventually it will just catch back up with them again and another bailout would be needed. This goes with Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac too and these companies need to fail if they don’t offer a product or service that is profitable for our economy. This is how business works and it’s a way of rewarding the companies that do provide a useful service or product to our economy.

JP Morgan Chase was in trouble and they needed help. They are one of the reasons our credit and lending practices are frozen right now and they reported a profit for the quarter today? How is that possible? I’m sure a lot of investors want to know that and the taxpayers won’t be happy with that either!

700 billion dollars is said to be 10,000 dollars for each household in America. That is how much taxpayers is expected to pay for the bailout plan and if divided equally amongst taxpayers, the results would be in the 10 thousand dollar range per household. They really thought it was best to give this money back to the failing financial institutions? Why not give 10,000 dollars to each household in America and the government would get back a big chunk in sales taxes? If each household in America got back 10 grand, they wouldn’t need a loan. It would be ok for the credit markets to freeze. It would be ok if some employers couldn’t make payroll for a week or two. Americans wouldn’t need money with a check like that in their mailbox and then the money would truly get distributed all over America and this money would be spent on products or services that we wanted and not the ones that we don’t currently need.

The stock market isn’t going to get better anytime soon and that number of 6,800 is creeping up on us. If the DOW falls below 6,800, it will be a freefall and the stock market will crash! Hold on to your money and cash-in what you can in terms of stock. Keep a healthy amount of cash on hand and be prepared to ride out one big mess that the government and our banking systems have created. The Market is sick and it’s going to stay sick for a long time and might not pick back up until the housing industry goes back up and this won’t happen until June 30th of 2009.

Times are tough right now and we may be forced to choose which bills get paid and which ones we let go. I think most people look at the mortgage first and we must keep that paid so we have a place to live. People still paying off their automobiles will want to continue to make their car payments and not get behind on the car insurance either. Our cars and trucks are needed to get to our jobs and we must keep working, so we have money coming in. You have to sit down and look at other things like this and create a priority list and pay the things that are most important. If times get too bad, we might have to stop the internet payments, cable payments or the phone bill. We can survive without these services and some of us might be better off to lose these luxuries until things get better for our current financial situations. We all need to start putting a little money back, just in case the times do get harder; we can be better prepared to deal with them. It might be too late later on to consolidate our bills, so take a little time this weekend and see what things your family can and can’t live without.

I’m starting to see some major tourist places beefing up the promotions and lowering prices that you normally wouldn’t see. I’m not sure if this is because of the current economical situations or just an attempt to get families to plan the upcoming holidays to their cities. If these vacation packages get too much lower, I think many will start grabbing up these Vegas vacations at these discounted prices. These big tourist destinations are always ahead of the game and they know how to target families for all occasions. I think Las Vegas will continue business as usual for the remainder of this year and travelers are gong to be treated to some really cheap vacation packages. See if you can find one for your family now and try to lock in on the low rates before they go back up!

That isn’t the headlines yet, but the Dow Jones Industrial Average that has been the top story on every news channel in America for the last few days, might be headed for a mark below 7,000. I really can’t see enough things in place that will stop this from happening. The DOW won’t go below 6,800 and this benchmark will have to stand, because the Market won’t survive under 6,800. I do think we dip below the 7,000 mark and this could happen as soon as next week. I think the early days of November would be more likely and nothing much will be positive in the markets until we get a president elected. The presidential election is going to have an affect on this market and I think this will be more evident as the election gets closer.

Who knows where the market goes after we have a new president, but I don’t think anyone sees an improvement until then. We will be looking for the anchor to come out soon and this will just stop the big daily losses that we are having now. We should have a more stable market next week, but improvements won’t be coming this month. So be prepared for a DOW that goes below 7000 and the panic to continue until the United States can elect a new president on November 4th of 2008. The New York Stock Exchange and other major indexes should stay above water until the elections this year, but other global economies might not survive that long and we could see some major collapses overseas.

I have always drove vehicles with power steering and never knew what it was like to drive without it. It didn’t take me long to figure out just how good it was to have a vehicle that has a power steering rack or a steering box of some sort. I was getting ready to be a mailman and had to get certified on 3 different vehicles for the U.S. Post Office. The LLV (Long Life Vehicle) is the main mail truck you see these days and the Post Office’s 2 1/2 ton truck was two of the vehicles I had to get trained on. I didn’t have too much of a problem with these two vehicles and I think most people could get certified on these postal vehicles. It was the Postal Jeep that was my toughest one and I figured it would have been the easiest. I have owned two different Jeeps before, so I didn’t expect any problems driving a vehicle I knew I had experience on already. Well this Jeep didn’t have a steering rack or power steering and I really wasn’t strong enough to turn the steering wheel. I did manage to pass my test on this vehicle but it wasn’t easy. I was amazed at the difference in effort it takes to drive a vehicle that doesn’t have any type of power steering. Vehicles with no power steering will really give your arms and upper body a workout and you won’t be making any unnecessary turns when you lack the luxuries of power steering.

I think my cousin and his wife should know about Zenni Optical. They both wear glasses and I know it’s probably more money than they would like to be paying on eye wear. Glasses are very expensive and many will go above 100 dollars a pair.

I live 40 miles north of Atlanta, Georgia and over the last 3 years we have saw the gas pumps run dry 2 different times. The first time came with Hurricane Katrina and North Georgia ran out of gas at most gas stations for about 1 week. Just recently we faced a 3 week crisis with no gas at our pumps and this was due to Hurricanes Gustav and Ike in the Gulf of Mexico. One of the problems we faced here in Georgia was panic buying. People in Georgia fully understand just how fragile the oil industry is and there just isn’t enough gas in our region to keep all cars and trucks on the road with full tanks of gas. If everyone suddenly decides to go get cash or greenback from the banks, how much would the banks and financial institutions be able to hand out?

I think this could be a serious concern and people might want to go get a little cash to have on hand, in case things to go from bad to worse. The Stock Market took another pounding today and the DOW moved lower by more than 600 points on Thursday. There really isn’t much hope that the DOW will move higher on Friday and a lot of panic might set in this weekend. I think our money system might get tested this weekend and you probably should take part in this. If you have 1000 dollars in the bank, you don’t have to pull it all out, but I think I would like to have about 500 dollars in cash to buy things in case of an emergency. I would also suggest that you get this in small value amounts. Just don’t get five 100 dollar bills and break it up into 1 dollar, 5 dollar, 10 dollar and 20 dollar bills. You should not be carrying any bill around that is more than 20 dollars. I don’t view these tactics as a panic and this is just a safe adjustment to the current conditions that we are hearing about daily on the news. It would seem our electronic cash would still be operational, but since so much is left to be unknown during this current recession, I think staying ahead of the game and playing it safe is the best move for all of us.
